Inter President Steven Zhang as well as the top directors at the Nerazzurri are increasingly growing tired of the constant distraction of refereeing controversies this season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that club officials at Inter see the attention constantly given to officiating is unnecessary, and are frustrated with the atmosphere of hostility that it is creating.

Debates around various decisions made by referees and VAR have raged across Italian football this season, with the Nerazzurri having had grievances of their own in addition to having been on the other end of the situation plenty of times.

The decision to disallow a second-half goal by city rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg on Tuesday was the latest instance of a decision benefiting the Nerazzurri and then coming in for criticism.

The directors feel that given that Inter have enjoyed a positive run in terms of results and trophies over the past couple season, they have unduly been the target of criticisms and accusations regarding officiating.

Figures at the club feel that the focus should be squarely on the action on the pitch and not on senseless refereeing controversies, though given that controversy has been raised regarding their match against Roma this evening before a ball has even been kicked, this may be unlikely.

The appointment of Simone Sozza has raised the ire of some Giallorossi fans, and it remains to be seen if the match itself will have any flashpoints which cause further distractions in the form of arguments about officiating.
