Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar and Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand are two young players on Inter’s radars as potential backups to Marcelo Brozovic for next season.

This according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, who reported for TuttoMercatoWeb that the Nerazzurri are closely tracking both of the players as they look for a player who can deputize for the Croat.

Finding a player who can fill in for Brozovic when the 29-year-old is injured, suspended, or given a rest is one of Inter’s major priorities for the summer transfer window, with some recent matches having exposed their struggles to cope in his absence.

A young midfielder could be sought for the position, and Villar is a player who has been on their radar for a while.

The Spaniard is currently on loan in La Liga with Getafe, having been out of favour at the Giallorossi, and Inter could decide to move for him.

Meanwhile, Hjulmand has impressed this season at the base of midfield in Lecce’s promotion push in Serie B, and is seen as having the right profile for the role as well.
