Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries is glad to have gotten one more important victory for the team’s pursuit of the Serie A title by beating Roma earlier this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, Dumfries gave his immediate reaction to the match and also noted that the job is far from done for the Scudetto race.

Inter got their third win against Roma of the campaign, and their second in Serie A, by beating the Giallorossi in front of their fans at the San Siro.

Like in the reverse fixture, it was Dumfries who opened the score, latching onto a well-timed ball from Hakan Calhanoglu on the break and then coolly finishing past Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Inter still have five more matches to go in the league and little margin for error, but they will take significant confidence from this win.

“It wasn’t easy at all,” Dumfries said, “Roma played a good match. It was very important for us to win today, we defended well and we’re very satisfied.”

On scoring in front of his fans, the 26-year-old said that “San Siro is my home, the fans are fantastic and their support is essential for me.”

“D’Ambrosio helped me so much to settle in,” he continued. “We’re playing very well and we have to keep going like this. Our heads are already on the next match, let’s take it step by step, there’s still plenty more to go in the season.”
