Inter defender Stefan de Vrij believes that the Nerazzurri can go on and win the Serie A title over their remaining matches this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 30-year-old highlighted the importance of the team’s win over Juventus earlier this month, and expressed confidence that the Scudetto is an increasingly attainable goal.

The Nerazzurri took a step forward towards a potential second consecutive Serie A title by decisively winning their clash with Roma 3-1 yesterday evening.

Now, Inter have five matches left to go, and their fate is in their own hands in that they will be mathematically guaranteed to win the title if they don’t drop points.

Taking maximum points will still be a formidable challenge, but the team have confidence based on the winning run they’ve been on since winning away to the Bianconeri.

“The victory against Juventus was very important for the spirit of this team, it was a very tough match,” de Vrij said.

And on the Scudetto, he said that “We really believe, we’ve always believed in it, even during our bad moment of form. Now we’ve gotten ourselves back into position.”
