Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti feels that the Serie A title race will be extremely close but that Inter’s fixture list could work in their favour.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Sconcerti gave the view that the only real thing separating the Nerazzurri and AC Milan at the top is the former’s less imposing set of opponents.

The weekend’s round of Serie A fixture did have one major development in the Scuetto race in the form of Napoli losing to Empoli to likely drop out of the running for the title.

However, both Inter and Milan won against sides from the capital, with the Nerazzurri convincingly beating Roma whilst the Rossoneri rallied to produce a dramatic late comeback win against Lazio.

As such, the two sides are locked in as tight a race as they were at the beginning of the weekend, with Inter having their fate in their own hands but the Rossoneri having the head-to-head advantage over their city rivals.

“It was clear for a couple of days, but now it’s palpable,” Sconcerti, “it will go to the very end. Milan played a great match, fighting until the end to try to win the title. Inter, however, have an easier fixture list.”
