Roma head coach Jose Mourinho approached Inter’s players and staff in the locker rooms after the 3-1 win by the Nerazzurri to tell them that they deserve to go on and win the Serie A title.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach spoke to the Nerazzurri’s squad as well as to President Steven Zhang personally.

Mourinho was warmly received at the San Siro during the match by Inter fans who have not forgotten his time at the club more than a decade ago in which the team won the treble, and he reciprocated in interviews after the match.

During the post-match interviews, Mourinho admitted that he would be happy to see his old side lift the Scudetto, and also gave his view that they are the team who deserve to do it most.

The Portuguese coach did not restrict this to public interviews, however, as he also went over to the Nerazzurri’s locker room after the match to privately congratulate them on the win and told them that they can win the title.
