Inter are aiming to keep attention away from refereeing controversies in the Serie A title race, unlike their city rivals and main rivals for the title AC Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who contrast the approaches of the two clubs in how they address officiating controversies.

This Serie A season has been characterized by a number of major talking points involving refereeing decisions, and this has certainly been the case at the top of the table.

Rossoneri Sporting Director Paolo Maldini and coach Stefano Pioli have both addressed decisions which they feel have hurt their club forthrightly and not shied away from controversy.

Meanwhile, Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta has always preferred to keep a low profile and has made a point of avoiding remarks that would stir controversy, certainly when it comes to referees.

This attitude is shared by coach Simone Inzaghi, who has largely avoided calling attention to refereeing in interviews and press conferences.

For key figures at Inter, the focus should remain squarely on the pitch and not on officiating as they look to see off their city rivals with a minimum of fuss and controversy.
