Legendary former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi feels that while Inter are back in form, they would be better off if former coach Antonio Conte were still at the club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Tacchinardi gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s current period of recovery and suggested that Conte would have found solutions to get them out of their bad period sooner.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has gotten the team back into the driver’s seat in the Scudetto race by winning their past four matches in the competition, after it had looked as though they may have let the title slip.

The form in February and March raised massive doubts about whether the Nerazzurri have the right qualities under Inzaghi to win Serie A, and also ensured that if they are to go on and do it it will not be by a wide margin.

Last season Conte guided the team to a Scudetto victory that was twelve points clear of their closest rivals in the end, and Tacchinardi feels that he would have gotten more out of this team as well.

“Inter had a moment of crisis but overcame it,” he said. “They’re a strong team, plus the forwards are performing much better.”

Regarding the centrality of Marcelo Brozovic to Inter and the effect of the Croat’s absence, he said that “He’s a great player, no doubt. But Inzaghi could have found other solutions to make up for his absence.”

“I agree that with Conte Inter Milan would have had many more points,” he added.
