Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic turned down a significant offer to join Real Madrid in order to stay and extend his contract with the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that that the Spanish giants made a push to sign the 29-year-old but that he turned them down.

Inter finally got Brozovic’s contract extension over the line last month, agreeing a new deal that takes the Croat until the end of June 2026 and warning off the interest of several top clubs who were interested in signing him on a free transfer.

Tuttosport reveal that the Merengues had been among the clubs most keen on Brozovic’s signature, and that they made him an offer which would have seen him earn considerably more than the €6.5 million net per season plus add-ons he does on his new contract with Inter.

However, the midfielder is happy at Inter and specifically with the role that he has in the team, and his priority was to play in a setup where he is absolutely central.
