Inter defender Milan Skriniar is hoping that he and his teammates can take three points to go top of the Serie A table in their match against Bologna this evening.

Speaking to InterTV before the match, Skriniar stressed the importance of the match and also noted how difficult keeping Rossoblu striker Marko Arnautovic will be.

Inter are finally getting their game in hand against Bologna out of the way, having had to wait more than three months with one fewer match played than their title rivals.

Now, the Nerazzurri can potentially go a point clear of city rivals AC Milan at the top of the table with four matches to go, although they will be well aware that this will not be easy.

Bologna are in good form at the moment, and breaking them down while also keeping them from threatening on the counterattack will be no small task for Skriniar and his teammates.

“Each game is worth three points but today we can take back top of the table after we had a tough period,” he said, “and we must go into it with the right motivation to bring these three vital points back to Milan.”

Regarding Arnautovic’s threat, he said that “He’s a strong player, very physical, we have to pay attention to him, we have to defend well and have the right motivation. That’s our goal.”

Regarding his participation in the attacking phase, Skriniar said that “When a defender can help achieve that numerical superiority that the coach is looking for, I am happy but we can’t get carried away, we’re defenders and we must defend well.”

And on the away fans of the Nerazzurri at the stadium, he said that “It’s great to play for this team, for these colours, and for these fans. We’re happy to have the stadiums back to 100% capacity because football is for the fans.”
