Inter are set to pay midfielder Arturo Vidal a severance of €4 million to terminate his contract at the end of the season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Chilean will leave the Nerazzurri this summer and that it is very likely to come via a severance payment.

Vidal’s future has looked to be away from the Nerazzurri for some time, and he has been strongly linked with a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo over the summer transfer window.

Given the size of the 34-year-old’s wages, however, it is not likely that a sale will be made, and instead he looks set to depart from Inter as a free agent to join the Brazilians or another club.

The Chilean has a clause in his current deal which automatically extends it to a further season on wages of €9.5 million, but the Nerazzurri can counteract it by paying the severance.
