Legendary former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso feels that the Nerazzurri have regained their form and confidence by beating Juventus in Serie A and then AC Milan in the Coppa Italia.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the treble winner highlighted the importance of those two momentum-boosting wins against major rivals to get back on track for the Nerazzurri.

Inter have gone on a five-match winning run since returning from the international break, and apart from the fact that they’ve taken maximum points, it is the quality of the opposition they’ve come up against that can give them confidence.

The Nerazzurri had to produce a gritty defensive display to take a 1-0 win and three points away from the Allianz Stadium, whilst the nature of their 3-0 win over the Rossoneri was much more emphatic.

Cambiasso feels that these two results are what have been crucial to re-establishing a sense of balance and momentum after the team’s major dip in form in February and March.

“The crisis began with their undeserved defeat in the derby, and then the rebirth with an undeserved victory over Juve in Turin,” he said.

“Inter are now in good form, the Coppa Italia derby has given them confidence and conviction,” he added. “You have to play better than the others and that’s it.”
