Former Inter midfielder Antonio Sabato feels that while the Nerazzurri have had a positive season so far, they will struggle to win the Scudetto now.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Sabato gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s chances of winning the Serie A title are not good even though there has been much to be pleased about with their season so far.

Inter did not necessarily go into this campaign with the expectation of defending their Scudetto crown from last season given the difficult summer they have, but they’ll have wanted to see positive signs under Simone Inzaghi.

These have certainly arrived, although so have some major setbacks, with yesterday evening’s 2-1 Serie A loss to Bologna the latest damaging result in their title push.

Sabato feels that it’s nevertheless been a promising opening campaign from Inzaghi’s Inter on the balance of their performances across all competitions.

He characterized the season so far as “Positive. Important players were sold who have not performed well abroad, others came in who have been good.”

“Many times, however, an opponent who should not be underestimated has been,” he added. “Here, yesterday a potential key match wasn’t taken advantage of.”

Of the team’s chances of winning the Scudetto, he said that “They’re low, Milan will be full of confidence now.”
