Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the team must stay positive in the wake of their 2-1 Serie A loss to Bologna.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, the coach emphasized keeping their heads held high and continuing to believe that they can claw their way back into the Scudetto race.

Inter’s night couldn’t have gone much worse as a late winner by Nicola Sansone for the Rossoblu saw them drop all three points to decisively hand the initiative to city rivals AC Milan in the title race.

The match started as an opportunity for the Nerazzurri to go top of the table, but ended with heartbreak as it is now confirmed that they must hope that the Rossoneri drop points at some point over the remaining four matches.

However, the coach is keen to focus on the fact that they still have four matches to play and a real chance to capitalize on any slip-ups by their city rivals.

He spoke about “Disappointment, as is only normal given how we lost. Radu made a mistake like I could or a teammate could.”

“We have to react,” he stressed, “we know it’s a burning defeat, but in three days we already have another match to come, and we must face the run-in one match at a time. We know that our fate is no longer in our own hands.”

On how his team lost control of the match the coach said that “Arnautovic’s goal gave us something to think about because we were playing excellently at the time.”

“The flow of the match was in our favour,” Inzaghi said, before characterizing the Rossoblu’s equalizer as “an avoidable goal – we had to get out first to Barrow, and then to mark Arnautovic better.”

“Then we let nerves get to us and finally the blow that decided the game,” he added. “We still created a chance for D’Ambrosio.”

“Now we go forward with our heads held high, knowing that there are two points to chase,” Inzaghi said.
