Former Roma midfielder Stefano Impallomeni has said that Inter deserved to win the match against Bologna and they should not be demoralised by the defeat, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, via FCInter1908, he said that Inter should not be demoralised by dropping to second in the table because AC Milan have recently stopped points and they could do the same again.

“Anything can happen, Inter must not get demoralised as Milan did not do before. Inter started off strong, well, I wouldn’t want to overestimate them. When you think you are stronger than everyone else, you have to prove it.”

He then said that Inter deserved to win the game on Wednesday that ended 2-1 to Bologna but now they have to accept that they lost a great chance to go to the top of Serie A.

“Today, many teams are playing until the end and you have to show that you are stronger. Even one point would have made the difference. Inter would have deserved to win, but now they have to regret it because they have thrown away a great occasion.”

The winning goal came after a bad mistake from backup goalkeeper Ionut Radu. Stefano Impallomeni felt it was relaly sad to see him leave the pitch in tears after the game.

“These are bad situations. It was really sad to see him leave the field destroyed. I’m saying it was the wrong posture. There you have to stand back and have a view with your right. I wouldn’t want him to become the new Gresko in the memory of Inter fans, because football is cruel.

“Now, however, the path is narrower, winning would have been fundamental, but today Milan needs only 3 wins and a draw to win the Scudetto. With a series of wins, instead, Inter would have brought home the Scudetto. It’s an indecipherable championship, this discontinuity is synonymous with precariousness. It’s the most precarious Scudetto in recent years, a sign of incredible mediocrity.”

When asked what he would say to Simone Inzaghi, Stefano Impallomeni explained that even when on a yellow card, Nicolo Barella should never be taken off.

“I tell him that Barella must not come off even if he has a yellow. He would have played with impressive anger in the final. He’s not an ordinary player, he’s worth half of Inter with Brozovic. Inter should have taken the lead, they should have won the game, instead maybe there was a bit of presumption.

“Bologna scored a goal but there was a clear foul by Soriano on Brozovic and it should not have been validated. Milan snatched the service from Inter but there are 4 games and anything can happen. Milan have a more difficult schedule but they excel with teams that play football. Anything can still happen.”
