Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola has said that Inter played too slowly in the defeat against Bologna and allowed the Rossoblu to get more confident, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an episode of Bobo TV on Twitch, via FCInternews, Nicola Ventola explained that given Inter were able to take the lead early in the game, they should have kept pushing and maintained the same intensity.

“When the game gets going the way it did, when you’re lucky enough to take the lead, you have to keep grinding. Inter, on the other hand, were pressing and building their game too slowly.”

He then added that because the Nerazzurri backed off, Bologna were able to gain more confidence and this eventually led to Inter’s performance deteriorating throughout the game.

“In this way Bologna gained confidence because the Nerazzurri didn’t push with their wide players and didn’t create numerical superiority. In short, I was disappointed with how difficult it was to attack.”

Despite the 2-1 defeat that Simone Inzaghi’s team suffered, Nicola Ventola still feels that the Scudetto fight is completely even between them and AC Milan.

“There was a continuous slowdown in development: Inter didn’t play like Inter. But for me, the Scudetto is still a 50-50 affair.”

The Rossoneri are now two points clear of their city rivals and they have both played the same number of games. Inter must hope for a favour to win the title.
