Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti has said that Nicolo Barella is a mixture of himself and two other Nerazzurri legends, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with Sport Week, Nicola Berti was tasked with choosing his top 11 Inter players of all time. The team featured the likes of Giacinto Facchetti and Ronaldo.

He also chose Nicolo Barella and revealed that he thinks the Sardinian has attributes from himself, Lothar Matthaus and Dejan Stankovic.

“For physical and technical characteristics he contains three players in one: Nicola Berti for running, Lothar Matthaus for passing and skill in breaking the opponent’s press, Dejan Stankovic for his ability to enter the attack and shoot. Three great Inter fans, just like him.”

Nicolo Barella recently signed a new deal at Inter and after a challenging patch of form in the middle of the season, he is now returning to his best.

Nicola Berti also heaped praise upon Ronaldo who he described as being like Pele’s secret son: “He is Pelé’s secret son. He invented a way of playing football, the technique at speed.”

Inter will need to get the best out of Nicolo Barella and others if they are to win the Serie A title again this season.
