Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has said that Inter are in pole position to sign Genoa’s Andrea Cambiaso, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Alfredo Pedulla for La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is the Nerazzurri who are most likely to sign one of the most coveted young players in Serie A right now.

According to the journalist, it is inevitable that he will be sold this summer as he only has one year left on his contract. Genoa cannot afford to lose him for free so if he will not sign a new contract, he will be sold this summer.

Inter have been more active than other clubs in pursuing the defender but they would be happy to wait until his contract expires.

“Andrea Cambiaso, perhaps the jewel of the club: it is a pity that he has a commitment of just over a year, the transfer becomes inevitable in order not to lose him at zero.

“Inter have been more active than others, they would wait for him until the end of his contract and would pay a fair amount to anticipate the operation.

“In the background there are Napoli and Juve, but now Genoa is diving into the derby, the last lifeline not to get relegated.”

The player will be even more likely to leave the club if Genoa get relegated this season. They face Sampdoria this weekend.
