Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is happy with what his team showed to beat Udinese in Serie A earlier this evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the coach expressed satisfaction with the character and determination that his players showed to take three points from the difficult match.

In the first half the Nerazzurri had to show their quality to score twice, whilst in the second half the focus was on their defensive solidity as they held out against a push by the Bianconeri to find an equalizer.

Now, they’ve put the pressure back on city rivals AC Milan and can do so further if they can win once again against Empoli on Friday evening.

Inzaghi’s team had to recover from the blow to morale that came in the form of a defeat against Bologna during the week and face one of the form teams in Serie A away, and he is happy with how they responded to the challenge.

“The guys did well,” he said, “this was great proof of their personality and character. It was a difficult match against an in-form opponent, we have to congratulate them.”

“This stadium was difficult, but the guys did well,” he added. “Now let’s go forward and take things one match at a time,” he added, “we have to go step by step.”

“I’m happy with the response they gave,” Inzaghi said of his players. “We’ve been playing every three days for a month between the Coppa Italia and the game in hand, but the guys are responding well.”

“Now there are three league matches left and the final of the Coppa Italia,” he added, “we’ll try to face them in the best way possible.”
