Inter defender Stefan de Vrij feels that the only thing for he and his teammates to do at this stage is to focus on themselves in the Serie A title race.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the Nerazzurri’s clash with Udinese this evening, the 30-year-old emphasized that everything is still to play for and that the team’s focus is just on winning all their matches.

Inter’s fate is not in their hands, and city rivals AC Milan’s 1-0 victory over Fiorentina earlier this evening dealt their title hopes a major blow and piled the pressure on them ahead of their match against Udinese.

The Rossoneri have now gotten one more match out of the way without losing their margin for error at the top, but the Nerazzurri are not preoccupied with what their rivals do.

Ultimately, de Vrij and his teammates must do everything they can to win the matches that remain in Serie A and then hope that this is enough.

“We told ourselves that anything can still happen over the last games of the season,” he said. “As we’ve already seen there are still four games to play, we have to think about ourselves and about winning.”

“Udinese are in good form,” he went on, “they are a physical team that can counter well lots of fast and hardworking players. We’ll try to play our game, but do so with balance and organization.”

He elaborated that “I always think we have to defend as a team. It doesn’t just depend on a defender or a goalkeeper, but on everyone. We’re ready for their attack.”
