Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the team have to show that they can be a completely unified group if they want to end their season in the best way possible.
Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Udinese in Serie A, the 24-year-old emphasized togetherness and suggested that the team must be like brothers to face the challenges that lay ahead.
Inter needed to show their grit and character to see out a 2-1 win against a tough Bianconeri side who have been one of the form teams in Serie A.
They did take three points in the end, and in doing so they put the pressure on city rivals AC Milan in the title race.
The job is far from done, however, with more important matches to come between the league and the Coppa Italia, and Martinez feel that the Nerazzurri will have to face them with a great collective spirit.
“We know that we’ve dropped some key points and we have to catch up,” he said. “In between the league matches we have the Coppa Italia final. We have to prepare for the final sprint.”
On beating Udinese, he said that “They’re a physical team that plays on the counter, we prepared for them well.”
“We suffered once more in the closing minutes, but we managed to win,” he added. “Now we are preparing for the next match which will be even more difficult because the season is almost over and we have to win.”
“I don’t know if we’ve done anything different to prepare, but right now we need to be more of a group and be like brothers on the pitch,” Martine zadded, “because we have to win.”
“There are no points that we can afford to drop,” he said, “there’s little margin for error but we know what we have to do. And what we have to do is win.”
