Inter are set to offer captain Samir Handanovic a new one-year contract which will also include the option of a further season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the contract would see the 37-year-old’s current wages of €3.2 million net per season roughly cut in half.

Handanovic’s current deal is set to run out at the end of June, and so far no agreement has been reached on an extension for the Slovenian, whose situation at the Nerazzurri remains up in the air.

However, the club are hoping to keep the captain in the team for at least one further season, whilst Andre Onana settles in following his move from Ajax in the summer.

To this end, the club are ready to make their offer to keep the Slovenian in the squad for another season, and potentially for another two seasons to come.
