Inter wingback Matteo Darmian is glad that the team manage to produce a morale-boosting victory against Udinese in Serie A despite the difficulty of their task.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 32-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri got a lift from the result and gave his reaction to the match.

Two first-half goals were enough for the Nerazzurri to take all three points away from Friuli, although it was anything but straightforward for them to get over the line after the Bianconeri found a second-half goal.

All evening Darmian and his teammates were made to work for the result, but in the end they got it over the line to keep pace at the top of the Serie A table.

Winning was a major effort, but the Nerazzurri will be happy with what they managed to do in beating one of the form sides in the Italian top flight.

“Over the past weeks, even if  we’re a little tired, we try to do our best and we don’t feel so tired,” Darmian said.

“We know how important these matches are and we’ll try to end the season in the best way possible,” he added. “We certainly take home a positive feeling, we wanted to bounce back after the misstep against Bologna.”

“Today meant a lot,” he added, “we would have wanted to suffer a little less but the most important thing was to bring home the three points.”
