Legendary former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello feels that Ivan Perisic has emerged as the player Inter look to to open up matches for them.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Capello named the 33-year-old as the Nerazzurri’s difference-maker after his vital opening goal in a 2-1 win over Udinese.

After having been linked with an exit from Inter last summer, Perisic has taken his game to another level to the point where he has been one of Inter’s outstanding players on both sides of the ball.

The Croat looks to be more accustomed to the wingback role than ever, and he can be relied on for his energy as well as his technical quality and calm decision-making.

Perisic found the back of the net with a header from a corner to get his team going in attack yesterday evening, and Capello feels that this only further confirmed that he is the spark in this Nerazzurri side.

“Perisic always makes a difference,” he said, “in all their matches and throughout the season. He worries opponents.”

“He manages to get in behind and crosses well, he has good vision of the game,” he added. “He’s the difference-maker.”

Capello said of yesterday’s match that “I liked how Inter played today, Udinese are in good form, but Inter have shown that they’re in great form and that’s important.”
