Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that the untimely passing of agent Mino Raiola is a major loss for the world of football.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his team’s match against Udinese in Serie A, the Nerazzurri executive gave his thoughts on the agent’s passing away at the age of 54 and expressed his respect.
Raiola’s death was confirmed on Saturday, with the Dutch-Italian having been one of the most well-known agents in the entirety of European football.
Given Marotta’s long experience in football, he crossed paths with Raiola on numerous occasions, and even though he admitted that they were often on opposite sides of the negotiating table, he respected the work his counterpart did.
Raiola was someone who has played a prominent role in the world of football for several decades now, and for Marotta he is someone whose absence will be keenly felt.
“I’m heartbroken by the sudden loss of a great person,” he said, “sometimes difficult for the harsh way in which he expressed himself, but he did it for the sake of football.”
“Dealing with him always meant dealing with a competent agent,” he added, “I happened to have disputes with him sometimes but that just means I believed in my works, which for me meant working in the interest of the club.”
