Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has suffered from a bruise to his right knee but will be recovered for Friday’s Serie A clash with Empoli, though he may not start.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 25-year-old will definitely be fit in time to face Empoli, but that Simone Inzaghi may decide to leave him out of the starting eleven.

The injury that caused Barella to have to come off during late in the second half of yesterday’s match against Udinese has been confirmed to be nothing more serious than a bad bruise.

The recovery process will only be a couple days and the midfielder is on track to be fully fit when the Nerazzurri face newly-promoted Empoli.

However, with the Coppa Italia final against Juventus also on the horizon for next week, Inzaghi could decide to leave Barella out of the starting eleven against the Tuscans with a view to ensuring he can be relied on to face the Bianconeri.
