Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi feels that the one thing that the current Nerazzurri team lacks is an explosive player who can get in behind opponents like AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Bergomi gave his reaction to Inter’s 2-1 win over Udinese and suggested that the lack of a player with Leao’s characteristics stood out.

Inter’s attacking options have not held them back from having Serie A’s most prolific attack this campaign, but there have been certain matches that they have been unable to unlock in an attacking sense.

A big problem for the Nerazzurri has been the lack of an individual player with explosive pace and technical precision to take the game to opponents’ defensive lines and give them something to think about.

Their city rivals Milan have such a player in the form of Leao, who has been one of the Rossoneri’s standout players this season, and Bergomi feels that a player with his profile is missing from Inter.

“Inter played well today,” he said of the win over Udinese, “but they always lack a player who stretches teams when they’re ahead.”

“Inter are missing a player to get them in behind with pace,” he argued, “someone with Leao’s characteristics.”

“I liked Inter anyway, they reacted well and showed patience which they hadn’t done in Bologna,” he added. “They won a difficult match against a strong Udinese team.”
