Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani is Inter’s main target to back up Marcelo Brozovic next season, while Bologna’s Jerdy Schouten is also a consideration.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri have lined up Asllani as their preferred deputy for Brozovic.
Asllani’s form as a regular starter for Empoli since the January departure of Samuele Ricci has convinced the Nerazzurri that he is the right player to deputize for Brozovic from next season onwards.
A midfielder with the right characteristics to fill in for the Croat is a priority for the Nerazzurri this summer, and the 20-year-old already appears to be capable while also having substantial room to grow.
The Nerazzurri could offer Sebastiano Esposito as part of a deal for Asllani, given that the end of Andrea Pinamonti’s loan spell will mean that the Tuscans are looking for a striker.
Meanwhile, Schouten is also a player being looked at by the Nerazzurri, while a move for Spezia’s Giulio Maggiore is considered less likely given that he has not been playing as a regista in the mould of Brozovic.
