One of Federico Dimarco or Danilo D’Ambrosio are set to start for Inter in Friday evening’s Serie A clash with Empoli.

This according to to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that Alessandro Bastoni will not start the match and that one of the pair will take his place in the back three.

Bastoni has missed out on the Nerazzurri’s last two matches, against Bologna and Udinese in Serie A, through a muscle injury, though the team are cautiously optimistic that he will return soon.

The 23-year-old’s condition is being assessed one day at a time, but a return to fitness in time to start against Empoli looks to be unlikely and it is almost certain that he will not be risked.

Simone Inzaghi will put his trust in one of Dimarco, who has started Inter’s past two matches in place of Bastoni, or D’Ambrosio to face the Tuscans in his place.
