Inter could be drawn in the Champions League group of death next season if they are to fail to win the Serie A title ahead of AC Milan this season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who detail that the Nerazzurri would find themselves seeded in the fourth pot for the group stage of the 2022-23 Champions League without the Scudetto.

Whichever team is to win the Serie A title will automatically be seeded in the first pot for the Champions League group stages, alongside the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Real Madrid, and one of Liverpool or Manchester City (or both if one wins the Premier League and the other this season’s Champions League).

Juventus and Napoli have mathematically clinched qualification for next season’s Champions League, and will be seeded in pots two and three respectively.

This leaves the last pot, theoretically the one which would give the toughest draw to the team seeded in it, and either the Nerazzurri or the Rossoneri will occupy this spot depending on which loses out on the Serie A title.
