Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti feels that the dynamic of this season’s title race between Inter and AC Milan is shaped by the Rossoneri’s improvements and the Nerazzurri dropping off a bit.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Sconcerti noted that Inter have taken ten fewer points than they had at this stage of last season whilst their city rivals are five points better off.
Inter are two points behind the Rossoneri, and if they are to successfully defend last season’s Scudetto crown, they will have to wait until much later in the season than they did last time around.
As Sconcerti observed, all of the top sides in Serie A have fallen off a bit except for the Rossoneri, who have actually gotten better compared to last season, at least in terms of points collected.
For him, Inter’s drop-off has been something that has been seen over the course of the season as a whole rather than in a few moments.
“Inter would be wrong to put all the blame on Radu,” he said. “The ywould be wrong to forget that they have ten points fewer than a year ago.”
“Milan have five points more compared to last season, Inter ten fewer,” he added. “This is the difference.”
“Among the top teams there are only one team out of six, Milan, who have more points than last season – this is to the great credit of Pioli.”
