Both midfielder Nicolo Barella and defender Alessandro Bastoni could be ready to appear for Inter in Friday’s Serie A clash with Empoli.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Barella will definitely be fit for the match, while Bastoni could also be available for selection.

Barella’s injury from the second half of Sunday’s match against Udinese has been confirmed to be nothing more than a bad bruise to the knee and no further tests will be needed.

The 25-year-old could return to full training as early as today or tomorrow, and is all but certain to be fit for the match against Empoli.

However, coach Simone Inzaghi could decide to leave him out of the starting eleven with a view to next week’s Coppa Italia final against Juventus.

Meanwhile, Bastoni missed out on the Nerazzurri’s clashes with Bologna and Udinese through a muscle strain, and it remains to be seen exactly when he will be ready to return, but it could be as early as Friday against Empoli.
