Inter captain Samir Handanovic is ready to agree a new contract with the Nerazzurri at reduced wages from what he currently earns.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 37-year-old is ready to stay on and compete with Andre Onana for the starting spot in goal.

Handanovic’s current deal runs out at the end of June, but the captain is still aiming to continue on at the club as he believes that he can play alongside Onana in the squad as the Cameroonian settles in.

The Slovenian currently earns €4.2 million net per season but could renew his deal at €3 million net per season in order to reach an agreement with the club.

Onana will join from Ajax on a free transfer during the summer, but the captain believes that he can continue to have an important role to play at Inter for at least one more season.
