Former AC Milan, Sampdoria, and Venezia striker Filippo Maniero feels that Inter’s squad is strong enough that they should be having a more successful league season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, Maniero highlighted the quality of the options available to Simone Inzaghi and suggested that their current points total is a little disappointing.

The Nerazzurri have a wealth of options in virtually every position on the pitch except perhaps in central midfield and in goal.

This has been an asset to the team on some occasions, though they have not always managed to get the best contributions from all of the players in their squad.

For Maniero, there is no doubt that with the players they have at their disposal, the Nerazzurri could be better off this season than they are in reality.

“I see matches in which players like Dzeko and Sanchez come off the bench,” he pointed out of the Nerazzurri, “it gives you an idea of how much choice Inzaghi has.”

“With that squad, I think they should have a few more points,” he added.
