Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni is aiming to make his return from injury in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus next Wednesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 23-year-old won’t start against Empoli in Serie A this Friday but is aiming to start against the Bianconeri next Wednesday.

Bastoni is on track to make a recovery from the muscle injury that kept him out of the Nerazzurri’s two most recent matches, against Bologna and Empoli, and should be available for selection against Empoli.

However, coach Simone Inzaghi is not likely to risk him against the Tuscans, and should instead start Federico Dimarco in his place again to ensure that Bastoni is in peak condition for the Coppa Italia final.

The 23-year-old is an important player for Inter in big games, and the coach has made it a priority to have his strongest possible team at his disposal and in good condition when they meet the Bianconeri.
