Empoli boss Aurelio Andreazzoli has said that this Inter team are from another planet and that his team are inferior to them, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Inter at San Siro, via FCInternews, the Empoli coach made no bones about the fact that his team will have to do incredibly well to get the better of this Inter team.

“We are inferior, we have to perform above the level. We came close to beating them twice, we also played well in the league and I was satisfied at the end.

“The team also performed well in the Coppa Italia and I remember we were winning. You can do that against any team. As I said, they need to win, but we want to win too. They’re a team from another planet, they’re clearly on the up.”

Empoli are likely to have their Serie A status for next season confirmed this weekend regardless of the result against Inter as they have a small buffer to the teams below them.

Aurelio Andreazzoli was asked how those positive feelings can be taken into the match against Inter on Friday evening. He feels that they must focus on a strong end to the season after what has been a very disappointing 2022 so far.

“We’re missing something, so we’d like to build on what we think we’re worth. We’ll try to do what we can to get some points in these three games. With five games to go we had set ourselves a target, we deserve more prestige than that.”

Empoli started the season extremely well and were in the top half of the table but they have won just once in the league since mid-December.
