Former Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni has said that he did not think Inter would beat Udinese last weekend, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, Alberto Zaccheroni showed that he was pessimistic about Inter’s chances of keeping the title fight alive when they travelled to Udine last weekend.

This is because it would have involved a reaction after the defeat against Bologna. This weekend will now be decisive for AC Milan according to Alberto Zaccheroni.

“For Milan it will be the most difficult match [Hellas Verona] of the last three. Inter have been able to react to Bologna. I didn’t think they would win in Udine.”

He was clearly very impressed with the way that Simone Inzaghi’s team bounced back from the bitterly disappointing loss away at Bologna.

“Milan are now better positioned, even if Inter responded impressively to the Bologna defeat. It was not easy to go and win in Udine after such a blow. Instead I saw the leaders rise to the challenge.”

He then suggested that Inter have got a more experienced squad than AC Milan which could help with the run-in.

“Ivan Perisic seems to be the real thermometer of the team. Inter have more history looking at the past of the squad members. Milan is full of emerging players that I like very much. I’m talking about Tonali and the two central defenders, Kalulu and Tomori are very good.”

Building on that point, he said that Inter have more players who are obliged to win the title whereas most of the Rossoneri squad have never won anything.

“Milan players have the chance of a lifetime. Almost none of them have ever won anything, if we take away Ibrahimovic, Giroud and Maignan.

“Inter, on the other hand, have players with a richer history. So they have more obligation to win. Overall it seems to me a heavier and less agile team. But it compensates with experience and personality.”
