Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has said that Inter will win the Serie A title this season because they have got the more favourable fixtures, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport about how the title race will pan out in Serie A, Alessandro Altobelli threw his weight behind his former club because of the fixture list more than anything else.

“I say Inter, because the schedule is a decisive factor even more than the current standings: the Nerazzurri can win all three, but I’m not so sure about Milan.”

Inter’s final three games of the season are against Empoli on Friday night, a trip to Cagliari and then a home game against Sampdoria to round off. The Coppa Italia final is also in there too against Juventus.

AC Milan have to go away to Hellas Verona this weekend and also have to face Atalanta and Sassuolo. They are certainly tougher games.

When asked who the key players will be for each team, Marcelo Brozovic and Rafael Leao were chosen.

“Inter play as a whole, as a team: it’s hard to identify a player who is more decisive than others, although Brozovic is certainly the least replaceable. For Milan, on the other hand, it’s logical to define Leao as the key player: he can break a game suddenly.”
