Former Juventus goalkeeper Dino Zoff has said that the fixture list Inter have is more important than the points gap, according to a report in the Italian print media today.
Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport about who will prevail in the Serie A title race, Dino Zoff suggested that Inter’s favourable fixture list will see them over the line.
“Because the calendar is a decisive factor even more than the current table, the Nerazzurri can win the title, for Milan I don’t have the same certainties.”
Inter have to play Empoli, Cagliari and Sampdoria before the end of the campaign whereas AC Milan are up against Hellas Verona, Sassuolo and Atalanta, teams capable of hurting anyone on their day.
The Atalanta match for the Rossoneri and the Cagliari match for the Nerazzurri are the ones that Dino Zoff picked out as being difficult.
“With Atalanta it is a difficult match to judge. For Inter, maybe Cagliari.”
Inter are actually two points behind AC Milan now and they have a worse head to head record which means Stefano Pioli’s side can afford to drop two points and still clinch the title.
