AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has said that he nearly joined Inter but AC Milan were always the Italian side of his dreams, according to a report in the French media.

Speaking during an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, Olivier Giroud once again explained that he was close to becoming a Nerazzurri player in the past but he is glad that the opportunity arose to join the Rossoneri instead.

“I was close to Inter, but God did well. Milan has always been my dream in Italy, it’s a great club.”

Olivier Giroud has been a very important player for Stefano Pioli’s side this season in the absence of an injury-hit Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Frenchman’s ability to score important goals has been vital to keeping them in the Scudetto race.

His crowning moment was of course the two goals scored in the final 15 minutes against Inter to take all three points and turn the title momentum in AC Milan’s favour.

They are currently two points ahead of Inter heading into the final three games.
