Inter Defender Milan Skriniar: “We Were Slapped Twice In The Face But We’re Strong & Reacted Well”

Inter defender Milan Skriniar has complimented his team’s strength to come back from two goals down against Empoli, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the game in an interview with DAZN via FCInternews, the Slovakian commended the fact that Inter showed their strength to avoid defeat despite conceding twice in the first half an hour of the game.

“Very important to go to half-time on a draw. But it must not happen to get two slaps in the face like today. In any case, congratulations to everyone for the reaction. The comeback makes us understand that we are a strong team, we always know how to react, we have very strong players.”

Milan Skriniar also had praise for the sell-out crowd at San Siro who never stopped supporting the team despite it looking like the Scudetto dream may be about to die.

“We need our fans, especially in games like this. We have to get everything out and they always give us a hand, that’s why after the game I went to cheer them on again.”

The defender said that the team must pull out all the stops in the remaining two Serie A games of the season but not they must focus on the Coppa Italia final.

“There are still two games left, we must pull out all the stops and go beyond our possibilities. Now we enjoy this victory and we aim at the Coppa Italia, then we’ll see what happens.”

Inter found themselves 2-0 down after half an hour against Empoli but with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez as well as an own goal they were able to run out 4-2 winners.
