Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has said that Inter played with the intensity that they know they can during the victory against Empoli, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with DAZN after the match, via FCInternews, Lautaro Martinez explained that Inter were playing how they know they should once the second half kicked off at San Siro.

“We were able to recover after the two goals we conceded and in the second half we played with the intensity we know how to play with.”

The Argentine forward scored two of Inter’s goals and when asked which one was harder to pull off, he said that it was the first one which made it 2-2.

“Definitely the first one: I directed the ball to the second post because I saw that the goalkeeper had two people in front of him. It was an important game for us today, but we’ve been saying that for several weeks now. We’re there, fighting for another title and we have to do everything we can to win.”

Lautaro Martinez says that Simone Inzaghi gives the team a lot of guidance on training and he is always getting involved.

“He gives us a lot, he’s always on the ball even in training. We’re doing a great job. We’ve lost important points, but now we have to think about winning the last few games and then wait to see what our opponents do.”

The two goals scored by Lautaro Martinez mean that he is continuing his return to his best form. He says that he is trying to improve every day.

“I try to improve every day, to raise the level. That’s the way this sport is and I learned it from a young age from my father. I always try to give my best and do what the coach asks of me. Inter is the most important thing of all.

“Everything changed from the 0-2 goal to our 2-2 draw: I didn’t see it well before, even though we attacked a lot. It was important to get the 1-2 right away. We were lucid, recovering a fundamental game for us. Have I written to Cholito Simeone? No, but I’m sure Verona will play a great game.”
