Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani has said that his team played well in the first half against Inter and it is a shame about the comeback, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the match to DAZN, via L’Interista, the Albanian midfielder expressed regret at the fact Empoli’s positive first-half display ultimately went without reward.

“We had a good first half, trying to play our game: it’s a shame about the comeback.”

Empoli found themselves 2-0 up against Inter after goals from Inter loanee Andrea Pinamonti and then Kristjan Asllani slotted the ball past Samir Handanovic to make it two.

They then conceded twice in the first half to go in level at half time and then the Nerazzurri had too much for them in the second half and goals from Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez made it 4-2.

Kristjan Asllani is a player that has been linked with a move to Inter as well as other big clubs in Serie A as he is a very composed young player.

“I can play in front of the defence, but I can play different roles. I always try to give my best where the coach puts me.”
