Former Inter defender Marco Andreolli has said that the true character of the Inter squad was visible against Empoli and they deserved to win the game, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Inter TV, via FCInter1908, Marco Andreolli said that the victory was fundamental for Inter and it showed their character.

“For Inter it was a fundamental victory, we saw the great character of these guys and they deserved it.”

Inter came from 2-0 down to win the game 4-2 and they certainly had to dig very deep to get themselves back into the game.

Marco Andreolli was moved by the roar of the San Siro crowd when Inter managed to turn the contest around. The game was the third sell-out in a row for Inter.

“The emotion that the roar of the stadium gave us was really goosebumps. Milan will have to play a tough away match in two days’ time, all teams want to play openly and it’s right that they should.”

The victory means that the Nerazzurri have gone a point ahead of AC Milan at the top and they will be away at Hellas Verona on Sunday evening which is a tough match.

“We have a season finale to wait for with bated breath until the end. There are no foregone conclusions, we’ll have to sweat for any victory.”
