Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that while Inter are showing encouraging signs, they must focus on dominating matches more.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Sacchi gave the view that the Nerazzurri should focus more on the intensity of their press.

Sacchi made comments in a recent interview suggesting that the Nerazzurri’s style of football is out of date and not contemporary with the elite teams in European football such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

For the former Rossoneri coach, the issue is that the Nerazzurri do not focus enough on pressing high up the pitch and can become overly reactive and passive out of possession.

He clarified his position as being that, while there is clearly a positive sign of development for the Nerazzurri, they still have some way to go and that the focus must be on controlling matches and opponents more.

“They must insist on pressing more,” he said of the Nerazzurri, “they must learn to dominate the pitch and, consequently, the opponent.”
