Former Inter defender Andrea Mandorlini believes that this evening’s Serie A clash between AC Milan and Hellas Verona could open the door for the Nerazzurri in the Scudetto race.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Mandorlini noted that the Rossoneri’s away clash at the Bentegodi has historically been a tricky fixture for them.

The Nerazzurri need one of their city rivals’ three remaining opponents to do a favour for them if they are to go on to win the Scudetto, as they need for the Rossoneri to drop at least three points to have a chance of winning the title.

Milan travel to Verona to face a Hellas side who are in the top half of the table at the moment and have shown themselves to be capable of getting results against the top teams.

Mandorlini believes that it will not be easy for the Rossoneri and that there is a good chance of Inter being given an opportunity.

“Milan have a key match in Verona,” he said. “History suggests that they’ve always struggled there.”

“We must now depend on the results from our rivals,” he added, “now everything depends on what Milan do, who also have the head-to-head in their favour.”
