Former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini believes that the Rossoneri have had the edge in the Serie A title race over Inter and Napoli thanks to their coping with pressure and adversity.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Deejay, Ambrosini gave the view that the chief reason why AC Milan are currently top of the table is that they have managed to bounce back when they’ve experienced setbacks.

None of the top three teams in Serie A have had a dominant season all the way from the beginning of the campaign, with all three enduring moments of difficult form along with their more positive spells.

However, one thing that the Rossoneri in particular have not had to deal with was a protracted period of crisis such as the months of February and March for Inter.

Whereas the Nerazzurri allowed the misery to pile up to see their advantage in the table disappear over a period of several weeks, their city rivals have always managed to get back to winning ways even after a bad result has dented their confidence.

“I think regardless of how it ends, I will say that the Rossoneri, unlike Inter and Napoli, are not shipwrecked when for example they drew with Bologna, Torino, and Salernitana,” Abrosini said, “this can make a difference.”

“Then from here to the end anything can happen,” he added.
