Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni believes that a free transfer of Paulo Dybala to Inter would risk being an underwhelming move for all parties involved.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, he suggested that Roma would be the more ideal destination for the Argentine and that his career could stall at the Nerazzurri.

There has been no confirmation that the Nerazzurri will make a decisive move for Dybala or that the 28-year-old will decide on the move, but they have been the club most firmly linked with his signature.

If the Argentine signs the hope of the club will be that they can unlock the best of a player who is one of the best in Serie A on his day, without having to shell out a transfer fee to bring him in.

However, Zazzaroni questions whether this would be likely, and suggests that a less high-profile move to the Giallorossi could be right for the player.

“I’ll repeat again that I hope he chooses Mourinho’s Roma,” he writes, “a destination that I consider ideal for him.”

“Some coaches share my view,” he adds. “I just don’t see him playing in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system.”

Zazzaroni suggests that “He risks repeating the bitter experience of Roberto Baggio. Dybala needs to play continuously to get back to the national team, the World Cup and himself.”
