Inter forward Joaquin Correa has not yet shown that he is the right man in attack for the Nerazzurri this season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who predict that the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko will be turned to ahead of him for the Nerazzurri’s final matches of the season.

Correa was signed from Lazio for €33.4 million in the summer, with the expectation being that the Argentine would be able to strike up the same kind of form he had under coach Simone Inzaghi at the Biancocelesti.

Instead, the 27-year-old has struggled for fitness, playing time, and decisive contributions in the final third throughout the campaign.

Match-winning braces against Hellas Verona and Udinese over the first half of the campaign aside, the Argentine has not done much to impact matches in front of goal all season.

In a recent run of starts, the former Lazio forward has shown occasional flashes but much more than that has looked erratic and unimpactful, not really taking the opportunity afforded to him by the coach now that he’s fully fit.

Now, Martinez and Dzeko should be the pair utilized in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus, while that pair as well as Alexis Sanchez could also be ahead of him for the team’s final two Serie A matches.

Correa’s future is still almost certain to be at the Nerazzurri and he will be hoping that a full preseason can allow him to really integrate into the team after his last-minute signing last summer.

For now, however, the feeling is that the performances by the 27-year-old have not been enough.
