Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani and Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten are Inter’s two primary targets to deputize for Marcelo Brozovic next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Il Giorno, who report that the Nerazzurri would likely be put off of moving for Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes by his high wages.

Signing a midfielder with a similar profile to Brozovic to back up the Croat is a priority for the Nerazzurri in the summer transfer window, with the lack of a real backup in the squad having been exposed as a problem this season.

Paredes is one player who had been linked but his wages would likely mean that he is not attainable, and so Inter are looking at Asllani as well as Schouten as their major targets, the latter of whom is valued at €15 million by Bologna.

Meanwhile, Davide Frattesi is the main target for a backup to Nicolo Barella for next season, while the Nerazzurri could also reignite their pursuit of Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.
